Mark Cutler, Founder & President
Mark Cutler founded Edison Strategy Solutions after spending 10 years as a management consultant to public, private, and nonprofit organizations who he helped develop and implement strategic plans and performance management systems. His work with these clients has helped them reach their goals and achieve breakthrough results by focusing on the non-financial as well as financial indicators that enable organizations to better measure and manage their performance and execute their strategies. Since starting Edison, Mark has worked with the United Nations Federal Credit Union, Friendship Public Charter Schools, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
Before founding Edison, Mark was an Engagement Manager at Ascendant Strategy Management Group where he led the management consulting practice. At Ascendant, he led or was a key team member in strategic planning and performance management engagements at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the World Bank, Mapfre North America, the Association of Research Libraries, and the National Association of Independent Schools. Throughout these engagements he supported clients in developing and implementing strategic goals and objectives, developing and deploying measures and key performance indicators, facilitating strategic planning workshops and reporting meetings, and training client staff on how to implement and sustain performance measurement systems such as the Balanced Scorecard.
Prior to Ascendant, Mark was a managing consultant in IBM Global Business Service’s Public Sector Strategy & Innovation practice where his list of clients included: Loyola University of Baltimore; Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA); the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC); the U.S. Air Force Electronic Systems Command (ESC); the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Center of the Research, Development and Engineering Command (CERDEC); the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; Huawei Technologies; and Chevron Corp.
In addition, Mark has presented and conducted workshops at the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, the Association for Strategic Planning (ASP) Annual Meeting, the Public Performance Measurement and Reporting Network (PPMRN) Annual Conference, and the Mission-Driven Management Summit.
Mark earned his B.A. in English, cum laude, from Tufts University in Medford, MA; his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC; and his M.B.A. from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
